Possible DUI Penalties

Drunk driving is a very serious offense. Anything that could potentially result in death should be, and in the case of driving under the influence of alcohol, it has realized this potential too many times for legislators to consider it anything but grave.

The penalties differ considerably depending on the number of times you’ve committed the offense and a few other factors. Let’s say you were caught driving while intoxicated from alcohol in Orlando, some points to consider involve your age, the level of alcohol in your blood, the presence of a minor in the vehicle, the presence of casualties, etc.

As Orlando DUI lawyers will explain to you, penalties for a first conviction could include a fine of $500 to $1000, doubled if your blood alcohol level is 0.15 and above or if you were driving with a minor passenger; 50 hours of community service; not more than a year-long probation; up to 6 months jail time, more if BAL is 0.15 or higher, or if there was a minor in the vehicle; vehicle confiscation; and license suspension for up to a year. Of course, if there was damage to property or injury to people, penalties are much more severe.
